THE WORK: INTERRA
OVERVIEW
Interra is a smart home app system that basically turns your smartphone into a remote control for the everyday objects in your life by connecting various sensors and devices to a single platform and falls under the Internet of Things category.
PROBLEM
The product was already live when we were brought in — a fully developed smart home mobile app struggling with usability and design inconsistencies. Users found navigation unintuitive, and the interface failed to communicate the product’s full range of capabilities. The challenge was not just to redesign the interface but to reimagine the entire experience without disrupting the existing technical foundation.
SOLUTION
Our role was to lead the end-to-end interaction and visual design process. Working collaboratively across disciplines, we supported user research, established a cohesive design system, and worked closely with the product owner to evolve the experience alongside customer needs. Through systematic iteration and attention to usability, we transformed the app into a scalable, user-centered platform ready to compete in the highly competitive on-demand smart home market.
